The celebration of Independence Day at MIT WPU started at 6:00 when the students first conducted the parade, giving a sense of patriotism and energy. Then, the freedom fighters were given all due respect with garland and remembering their struggle and sacrifice for the nation. Then the inauguration of the Mahatma Gandhi Statue was done by the honorable Founder-President of MIT-WPU Rev. Prof (Dr) Vishwanath D. Karad and the chief guests. And finally, the flag hoisting was done at the Saint Dyaneshwar Hall. Then, the tricolor balloons were left in the sky, flying high and making everyone proud; that was a mesmerizing feeling then. So this celebration of 75th Independence Day was a remarkable one.
As a student attending a college function offline for the very first time, MIT WPU was successful at setting a benchmark. Firstly, the entire campus was so beautifully decorated that no building or corner could be spotted without flower garlands or tri-colored cloth. We witnessed Flag Hoisting, NCC parade, and achievers' parade and also got to listen to dignitaries like Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi and Vasant Anant Gadgil.
The speeches were not only patriotic but also dedicated to the upcoming generation, which we all related to. It was also great to break the ice with the other department students. As students from all the departments gathered, one could talk and connect well. Also, seeing your fellow classmates being a part of the parade was a very proud feeling. There was also a live singing and dance performance organized by the first-year students of the MIT WPU Cultural Team. It was a great experience, and I look forward to many such events on campus.
