‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is Government of India’s unique initiative to celebrate 75 years of Independence as well to remember the illustrious past of its people, culture, and accomplishments. This initiative is dedicated to the people of India who have contributed to the advancement of India and to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of activating India 2.0, powered by the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence formally began with the commencement of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on March 12, 2021, and will conclude a year later on August 15, 2023.
As per our honorable Prime Minister, “The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav means elixir of energy of Independence; elixir of inspirations of the warriors of the freedom struggle; elixir of new ideas and pledges; and the elixir of Aatmanirbharta. Therefore, this Mahotsav is a festival of the nation's awakening; the festival of fulfilling the dream of good governance; and the festival of global peace and development."
In my opinion Independence remains a grey area as in many aspects we are yet to be totally independent. One of many examples could be media and media houses. In a democracy like India being unfair and passing biased and unfiltered news to the public is unacceptable. Fake news is another epidemic of which many media houses also become a victim. Am so happy to report that School of Media & Communication led a unique 'FAKE NEWS SE AZADI' campaign in the week leading to Independence Day where our students visited many schools in Pune and presented a street-play educating school children about the dangers of fake news.
Yet despite the short-comings, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an excellent path shown by our Prime Minister to implement ideas and policies which can set the vision of India 2.0 into motion as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This blog has been a memorable and a great learning experience for each and every member involved in the making of it; be it the photography department, editing department, or writing department. Each and every member has definitely learned something valuable and will remain a valuable asset in their skill set. I would like to thank the Director of the School of Media and Communication Mr Dhiraj Singh for introducing the ‘Blog Bulletin’ and giving us the opportunity to learn and gain knowledge as well as experience it.
A special thank you to our faculty Dr Chaitanya Shinkhede for coordinating and supporting us throughout the process and helping us whenever we were in need of guidance. Last but not the least, a big thank you to all the team members for being cooperative and giving their best to our first blog bulletin.
